💡 PintarPals: The Story Behind the Notes
It all started with one boy and one neighbour’s son.
At just 17, he picked up his first teaching job not because he planned to, but because a neighbour asked if he could help her struggling son with school work.
That one class changed everything.
Teaching came naturally.
Explaining complex ideas in simple ways felt like second nature.
And for the first time, he realised he didn’t just want to make a living. He wanted to make learning come alive.
The Struggle
But dreams don’t pay tuition fees.
He came from a hardworking family that couldn’t afford much.
He enrolled at Sunway College, juggling classes and part-time jobs just to get by. But after a while, the financial pressure became too heavy, and he had no choice but to drop out.
Refusing to give up, he appealed to continue his studies and was later accepted into Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to pursue an Engineering degree.
With the help of a PTPTN student loan, he finally got a second chance at his education.
He never forgot that moment and remains deeply thankful for it until today.
While others partied, he taught.
While others rested, he revised lesson plans and teaching notes.
After graduation, he tried life as an engineer, but every fibre of his being told him to return to teaching.
The Grind
So he did.
For years, he woke up at 6 a.m., teaching part-time at Taylor’s College in the morning, and continued tuition classes till 10 p.m. every night.
His days were full, but his nights were harder.
Because every hour of teaching required three hours of preparation:
Researching new syllabuses.
Cutting and pasting visuals from different textbooks and reference book.
Finding better examples, simpler diagrams, funnier ways to explain difficult concepts.
Typing out each sentence word by word.
Sometimes, students dropped out.
Not because they didn’t like him, but because the materials weren’t engaging enough.
That hurt.
So he rebuilt, improved, and reworked everything from scratch.
He didn’t have fancy software or AI tools back then, just scissors, glue, and endless determination.
The Breakthrough
Years later, that same obsession with improving notes became the foundation for something much bigger.
From a small rented room, he built one tuition centre.
Then two.
Then three.
Today, with more than 250 teachers and staff serving thousands of students every year.
But even with all that growth, one question kept coming back:
“How can we help more teachers prepare better lessons without burning out like I did?”
